Ohio Responds to the Coronavirus Pandemic
Knights of Columbus are called to step into the breach and leave no neighbor behind – especially in this time of crisis.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues, our duty is to lead our families, protect our parishes, and serve our communities, remembering always that where there’s a need, there’s a Knight. Supreme Knight Carl A. Anderson has challenged Knights to take this moment as an opportunity to “deepen our commitment to the very principles which define us: charity, unity and fraternity.”
Knights of Columbus Orderwide are encouraged to serve and sacrifice for those around us. Many, including in our own councils and parishes, are isolated and alone in quarantine. Food banks, blood centers, and other essential services have been depleted of their vital supplies. There are many people and places that require urgent help.
Council 14457: Assist Our Church to Reopen
On 05/15, 10-Knights assisted by cleaning out Church of all worship aids and marking off seating.
Council 5534: Donations to Pop Up Pantry (Ostrander, OH)
Donated several canned, boxed, and packaged food items, baby food and formula, cleaning supplies and $200.

Council 14282: Prepare Church for Mass
Between Masses Knights wiped down exposed surfaces in the Church to prepare for Masses to follow. Knights called upon Brother Knights and families to ask if they may need assistance during this time

Mailed cards containing a prayer, a message of support and a invitation to attend virtual Holy Hour.
Council 5534: Helping Struggling Families
In mid-April, we reached out to the five families who were struggling financially and who the council adopted last December as part of the council's annual Christmas Adopt-A-Family program One of the five families were in need of some personal needs items - so an e-mail blast was sent out to ask for donations from council members, to which the council was able to collect donations for toilet paper, paper towels, Lysol wipes and bath soap, as well as Kroger and Subway gift cards and gave them to this family. Another one of the five families was also in need of some personal needs items as well as antifreeze for their vehicle, to which the council was able to provide paper towels, toilet paper and the antifreeze. This second family reached out to the council again in late April asking for more personal needs donations for other in the low-income assisted living place where they lived as well as a similar facility that their friends lived - most of the residents in these two low-income assisted living facilities rely on food stamps but could not buy some essential items with food stamps - hence, the council did another donation drive and ended. - 29 rolls of paper towels, 63 rolls of toilet paper, 9 bottles of laundry detergent, 11 bottles of dish soap, 31 bottles of shampoo, 11 bars/containers of hand soap, 11 women's deodorant, 12 men's deodorant and 10 cans of shaving creme for the first facility - 42 rolls of paper towels, 62 rolls of toilet paper, 9 bottles of laundry detergent, 14 bottles of dish soap, 34 bottles of shampoo, 11 cans of shaving cream, women's deodorant, 16 men's deodorant, 16 bars of soap, 1 box of tissues, 2 cartons of toothpaste and 6 toothbrushes for the second facility
Council 3777: Leave No Neighbor Behind
Knights helped a brother that was quarantined. The council covered all food delivery expenses.
Council 5534: Helping Low Income Parishioners/Other Families
Provided personal needs donations to parishioners in a low-income assisted living place.
Council 17092: Support Local Food Bank
Council supported Waynesville Food Pantry. Provided $250 donation/bought freezer ($500)/filled it.
Council 11216: Parish Donation
Provided $500 to the St. Peter Catholic church for use as required to help support re-opening.

Provided $500 to the local Catholic Social Services Our Lady of Guadalupe Food Pantry
Council 11550: Helping Local Food Pantry
St. Joseph of the Three Rivers #11550 has provided manpower plus $1,000 in donations for food to the food pantry in North Bend Ohio. Members helped to distribute food to the needy during this time of turmoil while all along keeping in contact with brother members in need. They provided a "Meals on Wheels" for brothers knights who are by self and not only in need of a meal, but a visit as well....from a distance.
Council 10941: Helping Seniors
Cleaning stopped up gutters on her house. She was a widow of a brother knight.

Deacon O'Maley contacts100 parishioners offering spiritual/religious reflection and encouragement.
Council 3269: Blood Drive
The Fr. Ragan Council and Lt. McManus Assembly will also be conducting blood drives starting May13, 2020 from 2PM to 7PM at the Fr. Ragan Hall and continuing every other month for the next year. Social distancing measures will be in place and face masks required. The Avon Ohio branch of the VFW has provided 50 American Flags which will be presented to the first 50 blood donors.
Council 3269: Food Drive
On May 3, 2020 the council conducted a food drive from 9AM to noon. Two drop off points, one at Fr. Ragan Hall and the other at St. Joseph Parish in Avon Lake collected $350 in cash and 130 pounds of non-perishable food items. I addition to the collected food, the council was able to donate $450 each to CRS in Avon Lake Ohio and Second Harvest in Amherst Ohio. The council plans to conduct these food drives the first Saturday of each month.
Council 4361
Msgr. Joseph F. Dooley #4361 has blue light inside the Grotto in honor of health care workers. Msgr. Joseph F. Dooley made donation Project Bay Six to help feed local students out of school .
Council 5023: All LNNB Programs
COVID Response Team • Brainstormed ideas focused on helping our Parish and Council during the Pandemic. • Called all Brother Knights to see how they are and if they need anything • Created a list of volunteers who could help others if called upon by the Council or Parish, and offered our help to Fr. Jeff and the Parish Office • Several Knights helped with the Parish with their wellness calls Life: Completed the Baby Bottle Collection for Heart Beat of Sandusky totaling $1,188.22 that was desperately needed. Mailed the 9 days of Novena for Life prayers and emailed daily reminders with a short scripture passage since we could not gather as a group Cookie Giveaway: Brother Knights baked 200 dozen cookies that Fr. Jeff and Principal Anne Asher handed out to our Parish families on April 26th American Red Cross: Assisted with the additional blood drives throughout March and April Parish Grounds: Dave Dean and Knights have been cleaning up the Church grounds. Weeding, raking, fertilizing, planting annuals, etc. Special thanks to 3 of our Knights who picked up a trailer full of aluminum cans to be recycled
Council 626: Baby Bottles
During the coronavirus pandemic Norwalk Knights of Columbus council 626 with the cooperation of Schild;s IGA, Dave's Foodmart and Miller's grocery have placed placed baby bottles at the checkout counters of these 3 businesses to collect free will donations for the Norwalk Abigail Pregnancy center. We raised 700.00 dollars for the Abigail Pregnancy center in Norwalk.
Council 3813: Food for Local Nursing Home Workers
Council provided Food for the Assumption Nursing Home in April & May 150 workers, for all 3 shifts
Council 15533: Gift Card Mania
The council purchased $25.00 Kroger gift cards to give to Mr. Cavanaugh, school principle, to distribute as needed. We let our membership know about this program and many stepped forward, donating their own gift cards for the cause. Within three days of identifying the need, $650.00 in Kroger gift cards were given out to those in need. A note was enclosed with each gift card, simply stating "During these trying time...the Knights of Columbus care. A gift from St. Dominic-Delhi K of C".
