Coats for Kids

Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids® exemplifies the Knights of Columbus’ mission of charity and providing for the most vulnerable members of society.

Councils across Ohio can purchase new winter coats at a discount through the state council to distribute to children in need in their local communities. Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids®, a featured program, counts for two credits toward the Columbian Award.

Provide warmth for children in need during cold winter months. The Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids® program ensures that no child in Ohio goes without a coat during winter. Through the dedication of councils across the Ohio, hundreds of thousands of new winter coats have been distributed to children since the program’s inception.

The Knights of Columbus Ohio State Council does not profit from purchases of coats. Factories producing the coats undergo an annual audit by a 3rd party firm review to ensure they abide by ethical business practices and have a safe work environment.

How The Program Works

The goal of our Knights of Columbus Coats for Kids program is to ensure that no child in Ohio goes without a coat during the winter season. We have a need everywhere we look in the state of Ohio. So many kids will arrive at school or church and have no coat on their back. As Knights of Columbus members, we must utilize one of our flagship programs to change that!

How Can Councils Help?

In order to encourage more council participation, the Ohio State Council is launching a new plan to help distribute Coats for Kids in a regional manner. You will be able to place your order and make payment on the Formsite link below, of how many cases of Coats you want, just like you would if you were ordering from Supreme.

The Incentive By Purchasing Via State vs Supreme:

Every case purchased, you get one case for FREE! State Coats for Kid Coordinator would store extra cases and send out in emergency situations or distribute extras next tour stops. Councils will get half off for every case they purchase on their order via the state.  NOTE: THERE IS A CAP ON THE NUMBER OF FREE COATS OF 12-CASES!

When Councils Need To Order By:

All councils must make their purchases to the Ohio State council by August 30, 2026 at 8:00 PM. The State Coats for Kids Coordinator will send the proposal to Supreme to get approved in September. Once the proposal is approved by Supreme, the coats will be ordered by the Ohio State Council in Mid-October.

Distribution Sites:

The State Officers and State Coats for Kids Coordinator are working together on distribution sites across the State. Similar to our Cash Bonanza ticket distribution, council’s will attend the designated Distribution spot in their Diocese. From there, they will take the cases of Coats back to their council, sort them, and distribute them to the local children who need them.
